general introduction,i am a third year master major in automation at shanghai jiao tong university, p. r. china. with tremendous interest in industrial engineering, i am writing to apply for acceptance into your ph.d. graduate program.

in retrospect, i find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the ph.d. program. my future research interests include: network scheduling problem, heuristic algorithm research (especially in ga and neural network), supply chain network research, hybrid system performance analysis with petri nets and data mining.

weaknesses: im afraid i havent got a very good sense of directions, so i easily get lost. but i like to ask people and find the way from other means, for example, search the internet on my mobile phone, and turn to the directions at bus stops. another one is that i tend to have too high expectations on people, especially people who i care. once my sister and friends told me that i expected them too highly which put too much pressure on them. this is true with regard to my students. anyway, i am trying to find the balance between ideals/ hopes and reality.
